taking an example of pavlovs experiment. the moment he realised that the dog salivates because of the stimulus which is the approaching of the food even before it has actually approached and when pavlov puts it forward, it acts as a description. after this he prersents the food to generate saliva which is the unconditioned stimulus ansd response and notices that the mere presence of the person bringing the food generates saliva in the absence of food. this is the observation that explains the classical cnditioning and it can be called explanation. after this he predicted that if bell is produced enough number of times food then it will act as a conditioned stimulus and slowly the dog would salivate on the bell sound also in the absenmce of food. this is the prediction. he calculated mean for the future so that in future it can be used to control behaviors. this is the control goal.
