Describe the evolution of the virtual organization. What are the pros and cons associated with this design? Provide examples of three technological devices/concepts that have had the greatest impact on virtual organizations. Respond to at least two of your peers for this posting.
Running a virtual organisation can be very challenging. Team
members of the virtual team inside the virtual organisations
usually never meet. Alternating chances of these specific employees
are very low as they are set apart by huge distances. Language
barriers across the globe are also a major issues between
employees. Virtual organisations also faces differences in cultures
as it is directly based on multiple countries or multiple regions.
Maintaining a virtual organisation could be very tough as it is
only based Virtually which directly requires a technological e
advanced system. If any technological terms fails in the delivery
of the services, the overall level of the virtual business would
also come down as it won't be accessible without the help of that
specific Technology.
Confusion of the timezone as well as differences in the working
Times is also one of the major issues in the virtual organisations.
Maintaining the overall level of ethics and collaboration as well
as implementation of the employee engagement is also very tough as
there is no physical place or location in which the employees
usually meet. Maintenance of the data and acquiring the overall
data system is also very tough as there is no physical contract of
the employees to the employer or to the other Employees.
One of the finest example for virtual organisation is air bnb.
Air bnb is world's largest stay provider where actually they don't
own any of the resources. By specifically creating a virtual
environment and having their employees to work from remote
locations provided then competitive advantage in the specific
market segment where availability of opportunities directly
affected its overall business. Company directly offer their
services through pre existing structure in the society by using
their resources and just moulding the customers to use the existing
resources and harvesting the customer needs by creating a totally
virtual organisation.
In structure of its operation air bnb implemented telecommuting by
a huge margin and get benefited by the same. As company has no
requirement of having a physical office its structure could be
easily operated with the help of telecommuting and provides
additional support to the overall structure of operation in a very
effective way.
Company as always shown increment in growth of telecommuting has
proven to be very beneficial for this type of structure where
availability of a physical operational location is not
prominent.
