PROS 

 Easier and faster process for termination - Dismissing an employee who are still under contract to your company usually spends a lot of time due to some discussions. However, in employment-at-will doctrine, you don’t need to explain to your employee the reason why they would be fired. Practicing this kind of doctrine is very essential because this will help the company avoid employees who are creating difficulties. 

 

• More agile workflow and better bottom line - Employment-at-will doctrine helps the business remove the difficulty in terms of negotiating contracts during renewal period. Through this, it enables the businesses to allocate more resources regarding to their daily workflow that boosts their revenue.  

 

CONS 

• Employees who quit all of a sudden – Employees in employment-at-will quit without prior notice, which as a result, this can lead to difficulty in seeking for new replacement. 

 

• Finding a hard time in attracting top talent  

 


Before we start, let’s define the meaning of employment-at-will doctrine. When we say employment-at-will doctrine, it is when an employer can any time end its employee’s contract for any reason, except an illegal one. Aside from that, it is also the same on the employee’s side wherein it occurs if an employee can leave its job freely anytime for any reason. Aside from that, it also means that an employer can easily change the terms and agreement with no prior notice
