How do HVAC system components affect the work of an interior designer?
Ans) HVAC components such as thermostat, supply registers , split unit etc affects the work of interior designers.Following are some HVAC components that impacts the work of interior designer :
1) Thermostat - As we know that thermostat requires central, unobstructed location to accuretely moniter tempertaure. So, a interior designer can help to hide this device from view by :
a) Using pieces that mimic the shape of device to improve apperance
b) Surrounding it with photo frames and collage
2) Supply or Return Registers - Blocking of supply registerscan lead to airflow restrictions which decrease HVAC efficiency which can damage its component. To hide this component, interior designer can :
a) Spray them with color matching with wall
b) Build a frame of wood with internal metal sheeting to cover this type of HVAC component component. These frames can also work as a shelf if wider portion of wood is used
3) Split units - These bulky, rectangular HVAC units are placed high on the wall and needs sufficient airflow clearance .So, interior designer can help to hide them by :
a) Casting a wood beam to surround the unit then paint it with matching colour of walls
b) Installing floor to ceiling shelving on the wall around split unit
In this way, these HVAC components affect the work of interior designer challenging him to make these componets as less visible as possible without compromising with working of these components
