Discuss the two types of harassment (quid pro quo and hostile work environment)
Explain how they differ from each other, and how they are applied to supervisors vs. employees
What can HR Professionals do to prevent harassment complaints?
What is HR’s responsibility when it receives an employee complaint about being harassed?
Quid Pro Quo - this generally means that something in return of something and in organizations such harassments are generally sexual demands that supervisors may have in order to give something to the employees.
Hostile work environment - this is a situation in work when the employees may have to experience various cments based in age, race, gender, national origin, etc and can be termed as a discrimination activity as well.
The basic different is that the way of putting such issues forward and organizations need to be very much careful about such issues in order to maintain a positive work environment in the workplace. I personally believe that the HR needs to be pro active in taking care of such issues so that the employees feel secure and valued. Once the HR receives any complaint from an employee, they should take it seriously and monitor the issue in order to understand if the complaint is valid or not because if it is valid they need to take appropriate action as well because such incidents should not be tolerated or else the employee may lose the trust they have for the organization.
