Three African American employees sued their employer claiming they suffered a hostile work environment and/or racial harassment during their employment. The employees claimed that two “high-level administrative” employees frequently used the “n”-word. These high-level administrative employees were also African Americans. The administrative employees stated that the use of the “n”-word was commonplace in the work place and that it was not a harassing or discriminatory term especially when used by minorities in conversations with members of the same minority race. Will the three employees be successful in their case against their employer? Why or Why not?
