I had once watched a documentary movie that was made to reach us by the former Vice President of the US, Al Gore. The video vividly described how Environmental deterioration has in turn affected the mankind, giving examples of the ozone layer depletion, the green house effect, the depletion of the non-renewable sources of energy from the world, etc. Overall, this video helped me reflect how closely the mankind is related to the nature. The name of this Documentary was ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. So let me present my argument on the grounds of this highly critically acclaimed movie.

The entire video has raised genuine alarms for the people the people to act upon to make the planet a better place to live in. One of the cases that had been aptly brought into the light was the melting of the glaciers, all across the level at a rate which is indeed a grave cause of concern. In various countries of the world, the inadequate rains have resulted into the events of water crisis which is directly incidental to the loss we are causing to the environment. There had been a comparison made between the ice that were formed million of years ago with that that was formed in the recent ages in the polar regions of the planet. The visual differences were itself enough to compel us to think the rise of Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Further, the excessive use of the fossil fuels were again adding more level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere making it heavier and more harmful for the existence of living beings in the planet.

The overall ecosystem has so gone for a toss that the cycles of the migratory birds are getting disturbed as well with the hatching of their eggs happening at the time when the caterpillars’ season are yet to begin, thus creating a gap of the food cycle, making the little birds die in hunger. Likewise, in case of the Polar bears who are known to swim long distances, now find it difficult to rest in between their swimming journey owing to melting of the glacier, making no large ice pieces available for them to rest upon. Moreover, in the country like Canada, earlier the issue concerned with Pine beetles never existed due to such insects not being able to survive in the extreme frosts-like situation that occur in the country annually. As a result, the furniture industry gets worst hit due unsalable quality of the forest woods due to the infested pests.

Accordingly, it has been so compelling for us to think upon the ways that can be undertaken to preserve the earth from further damage. Every drop together makes an ocean. Hence, even a smallest contribution from our end, though we may think as individuals what big change it can really be for the environment unlike the Industrials, would be able to add up for the overall noble cause in some way or the other. We need to take the onus at this juncture upon us and vouch not to pass it on to the coming generations as even the latter shall be granted with the right to live in a conducive place. Further, disturbing the natural balance cycle of the food chain or the irrational destruction on the woods, over dependency upon the fossil fuels, all are the major contributors to the destruction of the ecosystem. We need to take steps to come up with alternative energy resources to control the deterioration of the planet any further. And if we fail to do so, the after effects of our acts shall be enough to help us gauge how indeed intimately we are related to the Nature.
