Week 2: Faith No unread replies. No replies. Faith Interviews: Ask two people to share their views on faith, do they believe, why do they believe, what has helped or hindered their experience of faith? Submit their answers to discussion board by midnight, Thursday. Respond to other two students’ posts by Sunday. Based on your own experience and on the interviews, what are some of the factors that lead people to lose faith and what are some things that help people find or strengthen their faith.
When i interviewed two people to enquire deeply regarding their faith and the allied mechanism, i came to know some of the interesting facets of faith.
The first person was around 71 years old. He asserted that raising doubts to confirm the belief in something tended to be the first prerequisite in the odyssey towards faith.
He was somewhat inclined towards the spiritual aspects of life and travelled to India comprehending its rich spiritual heritage. When he met a sage/ saint, he was told by the saint that the simplest way to achieve salvation/ realisation and perfection in life in the contemporary times is chanting.
He practised chanting with faith and walked into the meanings of various attributes of chanting. He further asserted that this phenomenon elevated him constructively as a human being and nullified the self talk.
The second person i interviewed was a college going youngster. When i asked him regarding his faith and the concerned opinions, he reflected saying that he was having a deep faith in the philosophy of non violence. By seeing and experiencing the drastic aftermath of violence (his parents were killed in terrorist attacks), he became the part of non violence movement.
But after a span of more than a decade, he felt that the violent groups are dominating and killing the non violent volunteers. Therefore, violence against violence is the best remedy became his maxim. He is a violent activist today.
