Your second day at work, you are put in charge of a diabetes awareness program with pamphlets and lectures in a wide variety of target audiences. After speaking with other supervisors, you have been asked to develop a pyramid type program where you train a group of individuals who will then go out and train others. Clearly your knowledge of diffusion theory adoption categories is important.

  • Innovations like social media, google ads, youtube can be used in educating the public.

Target audience has to be identified for effective program delivery and should include teachers, students, policy makers, particular professional and people linked to recreational activities etc.

  • Atleast Early Adopters , Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority Adoptor categories must be identified ib target audience to educate each category accordingly. To influence Laggards, people around them must be targeted first
  • Including helpful partners who may be familiar with any audience group is very important. Each group must consist of above categories as like may influence like audience little more easily.
  • Selection of particular demography is crucial. Middle aged and elderly can be approached in morning or evening time in walking areas. Email/online surveys can be used too.
  • For evaluation strong mechanism of feedback must be created also we should not wait till end of project for evaluation; midterm evaluation helps bring corrections that can improve the process. ‘Before’, ‘during’, and ‘after’ surveys or indices of understanding and , or metrics of behaviour change can be put to use.
