To test the effect of a new six-week training program, 16 employees are asked to complete the training and then take an advanced job skills test. Historically, workers who have taken this test averaged a score of 50. This data for the sixteen employees were normally distributed with a mean of 59 and a standard deviation of 21. Use an alpha of .05 for your test.

State the hypotheses., Set rejection criteria, Compute the test statistic (i.e., standardized score). Make statistical determination.

To improve turnover (employees leaving your organization), you implemented a new training program company-wide about a year ago. However, you're not sure that the training is equally effective in reducing turnover between your service department, sales departments, and warehouse. To test this, you retrieved a list of all current and former employees that have received the training and created a dataset also recording their department. Conduct a test of independence to investigate this. Turnover: Department: former warehouse current service current...

Complete a t-test using the data collected during the first week of class (i.e., the question you asked classmates). You can compare groups via gender or major, depending on your hypothesis. For example, as I mentioned, last year an MLS student asked his classmates how many times they had seen Star Wars. He hypothesized that there was a significant difference between MLS and DEHS students, so he compared those two groups. What type of inferential test should you use...
