WATER JET TECHNOLOGY(NTMM)
It is a traditional machining method (NTMM) used for cutting operation.
It uses very high pressure of water jet with high velocity.due to high velocity and high pressure water jet striking surface erosion takes place and cutting is done.
In the 1800s development of water jet cutting began and it was used primarily in mining where high pressure water jets were used to remove undesirable mining material using high pressure. Rocks were used to break using high pressure water directed at them.
Water jet applications date back to Roman Empire where it was used in mining activities and nozzles were not developed until the late 1850s. After the introduction of nozzle water jet technology started to gain traction as various kinds of nozzles can be used according to type of application. During The Gold Rush in the US during the 1850s water jet cutting was used using nozzles and later spread to more states during the late 1850s and early 1900s.
Earlier those nozzles were referred to as ‘monitor’ Extensive water jet aching use in mining activities led to severe environmental impacts and that made the government to pass the law over use of such technology to control soil erosion.Water jet machining patent was done around in 1930s and was used for small precision cutting operations such as paper, patent was about water jet using nozzle.By mid of1940s it was being used in automobile and other industries.
