Expert Solution

Bow tie antenna is a kind of Log periodic antenna,But not real log periodic antenna. Bow tie antennas are also known as Butterfly antenna due to its shape. There are several types of bow tie antennas. They are

1. Wide band printed bow tie antenna

2.Bow tie slot antenna

3. Triangular bow tie antenna

4 Slotted bow type patch antenna

A) The Parameters of Bow tie Antenna

  • Length of antenna
  • Angle between the two metal plates.

The infinitely long bow tie antenna can be completely specified by its angle between the metal plates. For practical case the antenna has a finite length.

The normal bow tie antenna can also be specified in terms of its length, width and distance between the triangular metal plates.The normal bow tie antenna has a radiation pattern similar to that of dipole antenna.

B) Aspects of bow tie antenna

Hope you need design aspects of bow tie antenna.

The generalized and approximated design aspects of normal bow tie antenna is given below.

if the required frequency of operation is 'f',then lambda =c/f.

Height = 0.25 *lambda

Width = .375*lambda

Distance between metal plates = 0.02066*lambda

Bandwidth = 0.33*lambda

Hope it helps...
