What are the main tenets of the Civil Rights Act?
The Title VII of Civil right act prohibits the employers from discriminating employees based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion and also prohibit employers to prevent employees exercising their rights under Title VII. This law protect employees of United states and does not protect non-U.S. citizens working outside the United States.
The Civil Rights Act of 1991 is nothing but the United States labor law that was passed to give more rights to employees for suing their employers for discrimination
In 1991, Congress amended the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and allowed plaintiffs in Title VII cases to request a jury trial and punitive damages. This decision was taken in order to limit the rights of the employees who have filed the case of discrimination against their employers. It added new ways to sue employers against discrimination.
This change was done to favor the employees who have filed the cased of discrimination against their employers.
