1. how does proton therapy work
2. Clinical application of proton therapy
1)
Proton therapy is a type of radiation therapy. It uses protons rather than x-rays to treat medical conditions like cancer. In this therapy, a machine called cyclotron speeds up protons. The protons moving at high speeds create energy and this energy is then used to make the proton travel inside the body. However, the proton will carry out its action only when it is at the affected site. This is advantageous because there is no adverse affect on the nearby health tissues. With proton therapy, there is less radiation dose outside of the tumor.

2)
clinical application is advised but it is still not prevalent as compared to old, and well settled x - ray therapy. The reason for this is the requirement of specialized equipment and well trained staff which is too expensive. Even in developed countries, proton therapy is not present everywhere. Also, There are some limitations as this therapy cannot treat all type of cancers but a lot of research is going on in order to make it more economical and more effective.
