Trace the path of a drop of blood from the left atrium to right index finger?
The oxygenated blood comes from lungs into the left atrium. From left atrium, the blood enters into the left ventricle through mitral valve. Left ventricle pumps the blood into the aorta. The arch of aorta on the right side gives a branch called right brachiocephalic artery. It is also known as innominate artery. It branches into two arteries: right common carotid artery and right subclavian artery. Right subclavian artery continues as axillary artery. It further continues as brachial artery. Brachial artery divided into two arteries:- radial artery and ulnar artery. Radial artery continues till the palm. It gives branch called radialis indices artery whitch supply the index finger on the right side. Also the ulnar artery forms a superficial palmar arch, which gives branch called common palmar digital arteries. It at the level of space between two fingers, give one branch to index finger and one branch to middle finger. Therefore, the right index finger is supplied by radialis indicis artery (branch of radial artery) and branch of common palmar digital artery (branch of ulnar artery).
