Functions of urinary system
What are three specific functions attributed to the urinary system?
Why are each of these functions important for life?
FUNCTION OF URINARY SYSTEM
The main function of urinary system is to filter blood and create urine as a waste product. It regulates our blood pressure .
Urinary system contains Kidney, ureters, bladder, urethra
Urine Flow chart
Collecting Duct --> Renal Papilaa --> Minor Calyx --> Major calyx --> Renal pelvis --> Ureter
Following are Three specific function attributed to urinary system
1. Blood flow to the kidney and Na+ reabsorption
Cortex receive most of the blood flow , because of glomerulus due to which medulla consume more oxygen consumption of oxygen metabolic rate increases due to this ATP is increased ATP load is directly linked to tubular load for Sodium reabsorption
Na+ Reabsorption theory
sodium enters the tubular cell through ENac and Nkcc channel on apical membrane and sodium reabsorb by sodium potassium pump on basolateral membrane

2. Juxta glomerular Appratus or angiotensin mechanism
It lies closely in relation to glomerulus JG cell secretes renin enzyme
Angiotensin functions and mechanism
Mechanism
Angiotensinogen converts into angiotensin First by using renin enzyme angiotensin First convert into angiotensin second via lungs and ACE
Function
1 vasoconstriction
2. Salt and Water Retention
3. Aldosterone secretion by adrenal gland attribute to sodium reabsorption
3. ERYTHROPOIETIN
It is a hormone release by kidney. It helps in production of Red blood cells which carry oxygen from the lungs to the body
