What are the advantages and disadvantages of viewing sexual orientation as having a biological basis? In other words, describe the social implications of this view.
Sexual orientation is defined as an individuals personal characteristic of attraction emotionally, sexually or romantically & it includes being a heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, or asexual. Sexual orientation differs from both gender & gender identity. The theories that point out the origin of sexual orientation biologically are supported by scientists & the factors that could result in a particular sexual orientation are genes, structure of the brain etc. Scientists also support the theory that sexual orientation is due to a mix of factors environmentally, biological (hormones), emotionally. The society has changed a lot & are widely accepting various forms of love & relationships. The couples in a homosexual relationship can't get pregnant & this can be considered as both an advantage or disadvantage. But it is better to consider it a disadvantage (disastrous one) because if every people is to become homosexual, then the human race would soon come to an end, so it is an advantage over homosexuality to be a heterosexual.
hope it helps.
