Sexual orientation is an enduring pattern of romantic or sexual attraction to persons of the opposite sex or gender, the same sex or gender, or both sexses. Scientists do not know the exact causes of sexual orientation, but they believe that it is caused by a complex interplay of genetic hormones and environmental influences.

Environmental factor: The sudy of cultural and sexual orientation is research into possible cultural influences on the development of human sexual orientation. Some researchers distinguish cultural influences from hormonal influences.
