Why is the tragedy of the commons more likely to affect lesser developed nations than it is to affect developed nations?
The tragedy of the commons more likely to affect lesser developed nations than to affect developed nations because :-
(i).The fishery sector in Less Developed Countries remains predominantly traditional and their fish population in the area has dropped & depleted in a huge number (from 1981-2013) because of lack of regulations and management but compared to developed nations, they are still in better position.
(ii). There are many supply-side & demand-side challenges (as depletion of fish resources & many tariff barriers) the fishery sector of lesser developed nations (as Mozambique, Myanmar, Uganda, Bangladesh etc) are facing but there are still few or no tariff barriers in developed nations.
(iii). Over the next 40 years the population of the Less Developed Nations will increase by about 100 pecent (which indirectly can be responsible for depletion of common resources) but the population of the developed countries will grow by a mere percent.
So, these are some reasons & grounds because of which tragedy of the commons more likely to affect lesser developed nations than developed nations.
