1. Explain upselling. Why is it important, and who benefits?
a) If a table is so engaged in conversation that guests do not notice that the server is ready to take their order, what are some ways to politely interrupt the conversation?
b) Briefly explain the importance of communicating a correct, clear order to the kitchen.
1) Upselling is nothing but a technique wherein the sales person try to sell a higher prices item or package or subscription or service i.e. if the customer wants to purchase an item then the sales person would try and sell a higher priced item. It is important to increase the revenue of the organisation and also the benefit is that the company earns better profits form the same customer.
a) The best way is to say: Sir I feel the conversation would be much better over some amazing food and drinks, what say. This way we can grab the attention of the guests and ensure that it is not offensive as well. Another way could be to politely say: Sir we have special items on menu, would you like to know about them.
b) It is very important to communicate the clear message because it will ensure that the order received and food cooked is same, also the customer satisfaction is there because there would be no delay and lastly if the order and food cooked is same the company would also not bear any loses.
