Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:
Vulnerabilities can exist in both a business' software and hardware.
Discuss the differences between software and hardware vulnerabilities. How might these vulnerabilities impact a business
Answer)
True that the vulnerability exists for both the software as well as the hardware.
Whereas the difference between the software and the hardware vulnerability is as follows:
1) The hardware vulnerability is considered more difficult and slower for patch than that of the software counterparts
2) It is said that for one hardware vulnerability there exist many software vulnerabilities
3) When detection is considered it is the detection of the hardware vulnerability which is difficult
4) Software vulnerability can be found with the help of code auditors, by fuzzing, debugging the code and with the help of static analysis whereas for hardware the vulnerability it is very difficult to detect
5) For a hardware vulnerability, there is a need of the intimate knowledge of the processors internally as the attacker would have attempted to make the system slow and also this might last for decades while for the software vulnerability it is immediate, but is short-lived and puts an impact on the security.
The vulnerability impact the growth of the business along with the reputation and integrity of the business is lost.
Many a time it also impacts the business financially which makes the organization lose out money.
Hence there should be an attempt to prevent such vulnerability by following the steps:
1) Recognizing and comprehending the business forms
2) Finding out the equipments and tools which can help in preventing such vulnerability
3) Running the vulnerability filters
4) Accessing security innovations
5) Applying innovation settings to the system to prevent the vulnerability
