In what ways has the farming of livestock for human consumption contributed to the raised carbon levels in the atmosphere?
(A) Farming practices
(B) Animal respiration
(C) Methane production
(D) Use of limestone in animal farming
Rise in carbon level due to
(A) Farming practices:
Farmers use fertilizers, decaying of plant ,manure and microbes which are the reason of carbon present in soil.It adds carbon to the soil.
There are more practices which farmers do like they burn the crops after cutting which adds up to the carbon level in the atmosphere.
(B) Animal Respiration
Animals add carbon to the atmosphere through cellular respiration and the process of respiration produces energy for organisms by mixing glucose with oxygen from the air, the glucose and oxygen are changed into energy and CO2 during cellular respiration. And thus we can say Carbon adds up to atmosphere.
(C) Methane production:
There are many ways by which methane is produced and then when Methane rises up into the air it reacts with OH- ion and produces water vapour and CO2 in the atmosphere. Thus it increases the carbon level in the atmosphere.
(D) Use of limestone in animal farming:
So this limestone is applied at the bottom of the ponds in which aquatic animals live. This limestone removes the carbon dioxide from the water and allow only intake of oxygen to aquatic animals. Co2 is first bound with limestone and then it is released and increases the level of carbon.
