What are some recommendations would you make to ensure the fidelity of data reported to outside entities about crime trends?

There are different agencies that work to ensure that the law and order is ensured in all part of the country. As the number of people working in these agencies are minimum compared to the areas and trends of crime, it becomes important that the public also inform the trends, areas and occurring of crime to the law enforcement officers. This is becoming increasingly difficult for the people who inform the crime trends because the offenders target people who inform the crimes.

Firstly, the police needs to maintain the secrecy of the person informing the crime by not entering their details directly on the record sheet.

Secondly, they shouldn’t be shown to the criminals while the criminals are trialed in the court. Their physical identity could be hidden from the offenders.

Thirdly, the database where they maintain the details of the trials and crimes should be safeguarded from the offenders who are punished.

Finally, they could be given additional protection not explicitly in order to make sure they are safe.
