Each day, you observe numerous practices in your office that are not "environmentally friendly" and that also cost your company money. A lot of paper is wasted, for instance, on print jobs that no one claims. Identify one of these practices and write an unsolicited internal proposal to your supervisor (your real supervisor or use my name) that outlines your plan to reduce the amount of waste and to save your company money. Develop a response that includes examples and evidence to support your ideas, and which clearly communicates the required message to your audience. Organize your response in a clear and logical manner. Research environmentally-friendly business practices to give you ideas. Use well-structured sentences, audience-appropriate language, and correct conventions of standard American English.

Not environmental friendly Practices observed:

  • Excessive use of high power ACS ,lights and fans, lot of electricity waste
  • Printing too much of documents
  • Not much sanitation practices and hygiene maintained
  • Every employee has it’s own bike/ car to commute office to and fro
  • Papers are not scrapped and get wasted as trash
  • In toilets, lot of water gets wasted due to weak maintenance
  • Too much usage of polythene for garbage disposable

Proposal with examples and resolutions:

  • All employees should be communicated to switch off Fans/ lights when not in use, use sticky notes at each workstation, which will keep reminding them always
  • Use centralises AC system to reduce power consumption and cabins where individual ACs are installed, better be replaced with energy efficient ACs from reputed brand. This will also reduce electricity bill each month and save company’s cost in long run
  • Housekeeping to be strictly advised to manage any leaks and water wastage. Employees need to work too to save any overflow or wastage
  • Papers should only be printed when really required, else emails/ scans etc. should be practised by top to bottom employees
  • Scrap the papers by scrap machine, so that they can be recycled
  • Maintain sanitation by all individuals to avoid any hygiene problems
  • Use paper bags more to collect and dispose garbage. Solid and liquid wastes to be collected separately by housekeeping
  • Company can provide bus/ cab facility to employees on economic charge basis. Plus individuals can practise car pooling. It will reduce carbon footprints and pollution
