Strengths

• Software knowledge would be very much helpful in coding the e-commerce website and providing necessary inputs.
• Software interface can be made more user friendly by implementing various software technologies that were learned during graduation and past work experience.

Weakness

• He would not be having the freedom enough to use highly effective and costly powerful software as the decision would be up to management. Being a newly established one, they would go for cheaper resources.
• He must learn the basics of the product categories that E-commerce company is working for which would be a new experience and might not be having any idea from both degree education aspect as well as past experience aspect.

Opportunities

• There are numerous opportunities to shine for an SEM ina new project. This is because he would be the one who would be laying the foundation for e-commerce website and software activities and would not have to follow the footsteps of any previous software managers.
• He has the freedom to think out of the box and discuss software plans with management which would never be the case if the project was an old one as they would be following a pattern of work with fewer innovations.

Threats

• Any issue faced by the customers in dealing with the E-commerce website would directly affect the business and so will be the SEM.
• Consumer data should always be private and confidential. Any loopholes in the software if hacked by others could lead the career of SEM in that company at jeopardy.
