Alaska guidelines checklist has the following goals to support the social and emotional development of children’s early learning and development.
Social development goals include interactions with adults and peers where children learn to get along and believe in known adults. They seek help from adults without shying away. They form associations and friendships with other children, cooperate with them and exhibit positive negotiation skills. When it comes to society, they know their behaviour and the consequences of their behaviours. They actively participate in group activities and appreciate diversities.
Emotional development goals include self-Concept, Self-Efficacy and Self-Control. They develop a self-concept by understanding and accepting their abilities, characteristics, and preferences. They believe that they could achieve something with their abilities and control their feelings and emotions by abiding to the rules.
