1. Here first of all let us describe Sales and Marketing Information Systems . In Sales and Marketing Information Systems sales and marketing data is gathered through formal means , it is stored at appropriate places so that retrieval for analysis when needed is immediate and it is distributed to sales & marketing managers in accordance with their information needs . The key to Sales and Marketing Information Systems is that gathering , storage , analysis & distribution of sales and marketing data is continuous & dynamic manner which makes it most usefull for sales and marketing managers as they can get a lot of support through it at the time of designing advertisements , planning marketing research , for gathering sales & marketing intelligence and for getting or distributing products & services to customers. Now let us see how does it is done .
Advertising : In advertising the key is what to have in the advertisement in terms of essential information and what communication channel to use. Here Sales and Marketing Information system will communicate to sales & marketing managers what are the product or service attributes most important for prospective customers and what are the channels which are best suited for reaching these customers effectively & efficiently.
Market Research : This is about gathering relevant data about consumer needs and preferences . Here Sales and Marketing Information system will communicate to sales & marketing managers what customers to focus upon from the relevant product and service perspective and what is the relevant data.
Intelligence Gathering : This is basically knowing the consumers better and here Sales and Marketing Information system provides all the relevant data to help them to know consumers better .
Getting products and services to customers : This is about distributing products and services to the customers in most effective and efficient manner. Sales and Marketing Information system here provides all the relevant information about the availability of relevant distribution channels in the relevant sales and marketing segment .
