Choose an example of an organization with a mechanistic structure. Describe the features that lead you to believe the firm is mechanistic. Comment on whether you think this is a good fit based on the firm's overall strategy, capabilities, and industry.
The example of an organization with mechanistic structure is Jsw Steel Pvt Ltd. The company manufactures steel and it is one of the top players in the Indian market. I think this company follows a mechanistic structure because the employees have to work independently on the assigned tasks. They follow a specific command within the organization and the decisions are made at the top management level every single time. The interaction between the workers, managers, and the top management is very limited in the company. They follow strict policies and believe in documenting all the procedures. The overall strategy of the company is to manufacture a quality product of international standard. They want to remove the barriers in their business operations and maintain a stable business. So this structure complements their requirements very well as the company has already created a specific process to be followed for all the employees. They have already tested what works better for them and they have believed in this process. The employees are also used to this and it has not had any kind of negative impact on their productivity. Not just JSW Stell but almost all the companies in the manufacturing industry follow this structure. They have found that this can work well for all the companies as it goes well with their business strategy.
