Identify the formal structure of an organization. Using an organization of your choice as an example, how is the organization's structure and design a reflection of its environment, goals, and competencies?
The organization's formal structure outlines the tasks that must be done and the people who will be involved in particular activities as well as how the tasks of the organization are accomplished. An organizational chart refers to the diagram which shows an organization's hierarchy. Although there are numerous types of organizational charts, the typical one shows different positions and lines of authority which link them with each other.
My organization, the chairman, and then two Vice Presidents each have a fundamental chart of the organization (mining and pipeline). One for each division. The managers of different departments are thereafter and supervisors are continued. This kind of structure works well because it is basically like having two companies. The President monitors the whole thing, but he splits into particular areas. The targets for both divisions are ultimately the same, but working environments vary greatly. The existence of a formal structure eliminates many questions as to who does what and to whom. Further, it helps with overall skills, because everyone knows who they do and whom they have to report. We haven't always had a great structure and for a while, things were quite bad. We did not want us back again and we had some problems with the worksites being unhappy. In order to be taken seriously, it is important to have a formal structure.
