John Locke George Berkeley David Hume David Hartley Which one of the philosophers listed above do you find the most interesting and who do you think had the biggest influence on the future discipline of psychology. Explain
I find Geert Hofstede who is still alive today the most intresting person, his model of cross cultural dimensions is very much valid today and in future. He points out mistakes when a person enters into a dfferent culture to meets a person from a different culture. He has calle the following below 7 deadly sins, his sins are so perfect that I think that he has great influence on psychology.
1. Unawarness - It is about not being aware of your own culture
2. Ethnocentricism - Being aware of about culture, and putting own culture's value on ly in place, disregarding other cultural values.
3. Amnesia - This being ignorant about history of the own culture
4. Profesional myopia - Being concerned about own things
5 Conceptual mix-up
Geert Hofstede does everything to make his own approach relative. Values are the core of the dimensions he discovered, yet he never lets the chance pass by to say that values and dimensions do not exist – they are manmade.
6 Academic polemics
This is about – not focusing on who is right or wrong.
7 Level confusion
A culture is a collective system of values. Acting as if a person is equal to a culture, or seeing a culture as a giant-sized individual, is stereotyping.
