The most common form of communication used by me would be text messages.
Firstly, texting uses mostly an active internet connection which makes it a very cheap method of communication. Phone calls require active plans which may be expensive.
It is a very quick and effective method of communication. It is short and brief and does not consume a lot of time. In today's world where time is the most expensive currency, it is very convenient to be able to share information back and forth without making it a time-consuming process.
It is not a technologically complicated method. Simple typing and sending are what make texting an attractive form of communication. Other methods like e-mails need the user to sign in and carefully write character-specific email ids everytime he/she needs to send a message.
It makes it possible to monitor who reads the sent messages. Other methods like emails and letters don't have this facility. Forbesevery time survey says that about 95% of messages are read within the first 3 minutes. Emails can lie in the inbox for days, weeks, or indefinitely. Nowadays receipt of such messages also is considered receipt of information by a court of law.
It is easier to share files and images as attachments. It is not possible to share such information over calls which makes it very advantageous.
It helps to send messages to a lot of people at once via groups. This method is also available via emails but the step adds up to writing a lot of email ids which becomes time-consuming. Once a phone number is added to a phone, it gets saved there. You just have to look up their name. Email Ids require putting in the person's email id every time you need to send a message.
It is a very widely used method of communication. Since it is so efficient and less time-consuming, it is very widely adopted by everyone which makes communication with everyone very accessible and easy.
Nowadays, companies are shifting from customer care executives to automated messages via messaging apps like Telegram and What$app. It makes it easier and more time-efficient for companies to attend to consumer complaints and queries and solve these issues.
Text messages are delivered instantaneously. Calling is dependent on whether the other person picks up or not. Emails are also delivered instantaneously but don't have any way of informing the sender whether the other person has opened it or not. Letters may get lost in the process or take days to get delivered. This makes texting the most attractive option for communicating.
Unlike phone calls, texting can be relatively discreet. It is easy to send text messages while not making it public and obvious what is being typed. This does not disrupt anyone in our surroundings while also maintaining the privacy of a conversation.
It is a store-and-forward process. This means that when a text is being sent to someone, it does not get canceled or remains undelivered if the recipient's device is switched off or out of network range. When their device returns to a normal condition, they receive the text that was sent to them.
