In case you serve someone whose first language is not English (this is happening more and more often now), how would you communicate assessment results so that person understands the results? If you choose to use an interpreter, what are some potential benefits and issues? Would you find an appropriately qualified interpreter or would you use a family member?

Expert Solution

In case if I serve someone whose first language is not English, I would communicate assessment results to that person through an interpreter so that he may understand it properly.

If you choose to use an interpreter, what are some potential benefits and issues?

Potential benefits in this case are proper understanding for the assessment results to the concerned person & removal of language barriers on both sides. There is one major issue in this lind of conservation is that using an interpreter delays the conversation and speed of communication is decreased. First interpreter has to understand than he has to translate to other person and again he has to do same.

Would you find an appropriately qualified interpreter or would you use a family member?

I would use an appropriate qualified interpreter because qualified interpreter services are the most favorable solution for communication barriers. When a qualified interpreter is physically in the room, the interpreter can do a much better job of reading body language and facial expressions which allows him to facilitate the conversation in a more effective manner.
