Describe how innate and adaptive immunity differ and list 4 characteristics of each within your description.
Then explain how cellular immunity assists with the development of humoral immunity to produce antibodies. List all the cell types involved in each of cellular immunity and humoral immunity and provide a brief function of each.
Innate immunity
It is the immunity that is present by birth.it the non specific defence mechanism.it is very fast and takes place within hours of appearnce of foreign antigens in the body.Innate immunity includes skin, sebaceous glands & chemical I the blood.
Adaptive immunity
It is the immunity that is acquired that is developed after birth so it is also called acquired immune system. It is very specific.it is composed of specialized & systemic cells that eliminate pathogens and prevent their growth.it is slower than innate immunity but powerful than innate immunity.this immunity develops after exposure to foreign body.
Cellular immunity
It is also an immune response that does not involve antibodies.it is the immune process that involves activation of phagocytes, cytotoxic T cells and release of chemical mediators like cytokines and chemokines in response to antigens. In this T cells kills the antigens by undergoing apoptosis .And the T cells are activeted by antigen presenting cells.
Humoral immunity
It is the immune response that involves antibodies. And the antibodies are produced by plasma T cells. In humoral immunity there is no apoptosis of cells..In this antibodies bind to the pathogen and prevent them & neutralizes them. And it is mediated by macromolecules in the extracellular fluids nothing but antibodies , complement proteins.Humoral immunity controls the circulating pathogen mainly.
