How do I find the density of water using the density of an empty graduated cylinder that weighs 86.246g and also using the mass of a graduated cylinder with 10 mL of water that weighs 95.980g

How do I find the density of ethanol using the density of an empty graduated cylinder that weighs 86.246g and also using the mass of a graduated cylinder with 10 mL of ethanol that weighs 93.945g

Specific gravity is defined as the density of a substance divided by the density of water. Determine the density of ethanol

Solutions

Expert Solution

A:- Equation for the calculation the dencity of the given liquid, dencity = mass / volume

      mass of the water = 95.980 - 86.246

                                    = 9.734 grams

volume of water = 10 mL

Dencity of water = 9.734 g / 10 mL

                          = 0.9734 g / mL

Dencity of ethanol, mass of ethanol = 93.945 - 86.246

                                                          = 7.699 grams

volume of ethanol = 10 mL

               Dencity of ethanol = 7.699 g / 10 mL

                                             = 0.7699 g / mL
