1. Intercultural competence or cultural competence in general refers to the ability of an individual to adapt and overcome their behaviour and mental sets in order to effectively communicate and help individuals from different cultures.
2. It is important to be culturally competent citizens and employees as it provides a safe environment for individuals from different cultures to develop and have equal opportunities of growth in the society that they share with us.

It is important to be adaptable when working with different cultural, ethnic and global cultures as well as those with varying political perspectives and social backgrounds Because it is not only ethical to do so but also helps in the development of oneself with accordance to the society which includes multiple cultures, ethnicities and perspectives by incorporating the factors that may influence our workplace and productivity.
