Diagram and give a specific example of short-loop and long-loop negative feedback in endocrine regulation. Describe the differences in levels of each hormone in the pathway in response to a Primary hypersecretion defect, and to both types of Secondary hypersecretion defects (hypothalamic and pituitary).

Solutions

Expert Solution

please find answer bellow with diagram

In short loop feedback the hormone released from pituitary provide negative feedback to hypothalamic center this leads to stoppage of secretion of the releasing hormone Example :Growth hormone produced by pituitary gland can inhibit Growth hormone releasing hormone produced by hypothalamus

In long loop feedback the hormones coming from peripheral endocrine gland inhibit both pituitary or hypothalamic secretion Example : when more thyroid hormone is produced from thyroid gland it leads to reduced release of thyroid stimulating hormone from the anterior pituitary

In primary hyper secretion defect the gland itself produce too much of hormone even though tropic hormone level is normal . For example hyper secretion of growth hormone in acromegaly . in secondary hyper secretion defect excessive stimulation of the gland by its tropic hormoneFor example : hyper thyroidism due to increased TSH stimulation on thyroid gland .
