Select a personal or professional goal you want to achieve. Address each part of the SMART technique -- specific, measurable, aggressive, realistic, and time-bound– providing relevant details about the goal for each component of the goal-setting process.

Solutions

Expert Solution

If I talk about my SMART goal then it is losing 3kgs within 30 days. This goal fulfills the acronym as well as all principles of the goal-setting theory which are clarity, challenge, commitment, feedback, and complexity.

PERSONAL GOAL- LOSE 3KG WITHIN 30 DAYS

Specific

An ambiguous goal is not specific. For instance, saying my goal is to lose some weight lacks the specific element. The goal-setting process requires the goal to be clear and precise.

Measurable

A measurable goal is the one whose milestone towards achieving it can be tracked. For example, if am currently 70 kg, I know by the end of 30 days I should be 67kg in order to say my goal was accomplished. I could weigh myself on the 10th-day interval to determine the progress.

Achievable

Setting an achievable goal is crucial because it motivates the person to actually do it. But if for example, I say I want to lose 30kg out of my current 70 kg within a month, that is a goal that might not be achieved within the set timeframe.

Relevant

A goal must be relevant otherwise achieving it will not bring any pleasure or benefit. A relevant goal is worth working on.

Time-Bound

A goal must have a set duration or deadline. If I said I want to lose 3 kg without indicating the timeframe, then it would not be a smart goal because I could take ten years to lose 3 kg. A time frame helps in planning the time to spend working towards the achievement of the set goal. For example, I could say I will use 2 hours to work out and reduce my food intake by 2 in order to achieve my goal.

The set personal goal of losing 3kg in 30 days follows the principles of goal-setting in that it is clear, it is challenging than it would be to lose 3 grams within the same period, it requires commitment because it implies that I should be in a position to lose a kg in 10 days which calls for handwork and regulated diet, I will be able to get feedback on progress by weighing myself whenever I want and the level of task complexity is balanced in that it is challenging but achievable.
