How will consumer power be affected by when workplaces demand more of your own data? Do you believe that consumers/employees will have enough power to control what/how much personal data will if demanded by certain companies with high industry wide influence such as Apple or Google?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Data has become a major priority for businesses of all sizes. Workplaces have the power to force their employees and consumers in demanding more of their own data. This will result in their exploitation as workplaces will be able to mine this data with the help of newly developed and more efficient tools. They will be able to find out how to use their employees and consumers to increase their profits.

It will not be in the power of consumers/employees to control what and how much personal data is demanded by these companies. As these companies have wide influence, it will not be possible for common people to control anything. Only the governments can give common people power over their data. For example, the European Union passed the law General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This law regulates data protection and privacy of their citizens. It allows their citizens the control over their data. They can revoke the consent of storing data and the company has to comply with it. These kinds of laws will allow consumers/employees to control how much personal data is store.

My question, can I also use the determinant "portion of budget" because I think a dishwasher has a larger "portion of budget" (elastic), where fruit mixer...
