Discuss which leadership style you will follow from the following
1. Autocratic leadership style
2. Democratic leadership style
3. Laissez-faire leadership style Your answer should highlight both the advantages and disadvantages of the chosen style with support of literature review (300 words)
1.Autocratic leadership style is the one where One person gives orders and other follows the same. Under this type of leadership, leaders tell their employees what and how they want the work to be done without taking any advice of their followers.
Advantages of this style is that, it saves time as leader will not consult anyone. It is also considered the best leadership style when the leader have full information to solve the problem and employees are also fully motivated.
Disadvanatges: Employees feels demotivated if they had better ideas and the leader is not willing to give them a chance to come forward. At times, the method adopted by the leader may not be successful and leads to wastage of time and resources.
2. Democratic leadership style: This style is the one where leaders involves others to partcipate and give suggestions in making decisions. Although the final decision will be taken by the leader only, but it gives other followers more connected to the organisation as their suggestions are heard. This leadership also involves delegating authority to other people, they acts as project heads or group leaders.
Advantages: Employees feel motivated, concerned with the organisation. They are also driven by the success of the company. They are more aware about the functioning of the organisation and they voluntarily participate for giving good ideas for thr improvement of the company.
Disadvantages: It is time consuming.Sometimes employees start taking employer for granted, at times they feel that the leader is incapable of leading the company.
3.Laissez-faire leadership style: This style gives full freedom to the followers to make decisions and implement the same. The goal here is to get the work completed.
Advantages: Leader just acts as a guide or resource provider. Employees are the ones on which whole burden falls.
Disadvantages: Followers sometimes feels lack of direction and faces problems in implementing the decisions.
I will prefer to go by the democratic style of leadership because it is participative in nature and the followers feel more connected and concerned about the organisatio progress. This leadership build the most trustworthy environment to work.
