Aerobic and anaerobic metabolism:
a. Which is the most effective mode of metabolism and what does the body require for this?
b. Why do we need the other mode?
Answer:
(a) Most effective - Aerobic metabolism. Our human body need Oxygen to carry out the work of Aerobic metabolism.
Aerobic metabolism: Normally our body need energy to perform the function of the body to live. So The body will take the protein, glucose, fats and with the help oxygen it will breakdown the substance and converted as energy to use for the functions and activities of the human body.
This is the way the body get energy and lead to live a normal life.
(b) Anarobic metabolism- without use of oxygen
In this metabolism, It will also create the energy. But not with the help of oxygen. Mostly this type of energy is produced in the short period of time. Especially for to boost up the work.
When an power lifter or sprinter (running athletes) need energy
in the short period of time to achieve the goal. Normally the
energy will get from the aerobic metabolism breakdown with the help
of oxygen, But when the body need more energy. Aerobic metabolism
will not able to full the muscles need.
so anaerobic metabolism produces energy in the form of lactic acid
which will helps the muscles in their particular function. In short
period of time.
Example : while lifting heavy weights.
