Between the Aerobic, Anoxic, and Anaerobic zone, which one has the lowest odor potential? and why?
What do we do with the sludge resulted from the WWT process? Can we use it to make money? How?
Do you support treated WW and Treated sludge to be used in agriculture to grow crops? Why?
Why do we need to monitor the groundwater during and after the site closure?
Ans) Aerobic zone has the lowest odor potential because due to presence of oxygen, the resulting end products are carbon dioxide, water and some organic compounds which have less odor
Ans) The sludge produced by wastewater can be used for :
1) Recycling - The slude water can be recycled by using it in agriculture and horticulture with or without adding soil supplements and can also be used in forestry and landscaping applications
2) Destruction of organic method using thermal methods like incineration, pyrolysis etc
3) Disposal at landfill site and oceans
We can see that the sludge water can be used in agriculture so yes, we can use it to make money as the water crises is the major growing problem so by supplying sludge water to agriculture fields using canals we can make money
Ans) Yes, treated wastewater and sludge can be definetly be used in agriculture to grow crops if the concentration of toxic materials like arsenic, lead etc do not exceed the permissible concentration set by local authorities.
Ground water sholud be monitered during and after site closure becuase sludge water can penetrate through soil and may pollute groundwater if it accumlulate in groundwater for long time. The polluted groundwater can be very harmful for people consuming it. So, a time to time monitering of groundwater can prevent groundwater pollution
