We have all heard about what is going on in the news today. Think about something you see as falling in the category of “crime” and an instance of “deviance” in the news. Please be clear and fully explain your response using the appropriate terms for the example.
First let's understand difference between the two terms :-
Crime :- Crime could be defined as an act which break the law and harm some person or group or property etc. Crime is always criminal in nature.
Deviance :- Deviance could be defined as an act which break social norms. Deviance is not necessarily criminal in nature it could be or could be not.
Example of crime in news today :- We have seen that, George Floyd in America was brutally killed by a police officer without any reason. It's totally come under the ambit of crime as law doesn't give authority to anyone not even police to kill innocent people. Police officer has just put his knee on his neck and George was not able to breathe and he died due to that act.
Example of deviance in news today :-
Many people are protesting on road against government due to lockdown which is not good as it is deviance and a violation of social norms because as per societal norms all people should be follow lockdown for safety of themselves and others. People should cooperate with others.
