What I can think of now is the Volkswagen scandal surfaced in 2015. Volkswagen has been cheating customers with a false advertisement campaign' Clean diesel'. That their cars are clean in terms of the pollution norms and that helped them increase their sales considerably. They sold 550,000 cars with the false claim that they are low emission, environment friendly cars and they had been doing this for the last seven years as on 2015.
This is a case of false advertising. When it came out, the fact was that emissions from their cars were not within the limits. The emissions from Volkswagen cars were 40 times higher than that was permitted. Volkswagen had installed a defeat devise in terms of a software program which perceived the engine when driven under test conditions and enable the anti-pollution stops. Otherwise engine perform normally and emits as normal which is above the standard limits.
This is a case of false advertising to decieve customers and pollution boards and selling cars.
