Think about everything you saw in this module.

Are we doomed as a society or is there hope? What do you think? Should we reduce population? Should we reduce consumption? Can we have it all? Is there a racist agenda behind population control and the desire to have the rest of the world consume less?

  • The reason is that the larger the population, the higher the need for resources; for example, fossil fuel runs out quickly, which poses a threat to the environment. Population increases need for fossil fuels also increase due to this increase in people, and the pressure on the natural resources that we depend on for survival has improved. Natural resources include a variety of materials and energy sources that we take from the environment and their use. Depending on the estimate used, human overcrowding may have already occurred. The recent rapid increase population caused concern for some people, and the community is expected to reach between 8 and 10,500 million between 2040 and 2050. While China has become the world leader in total consumption for some products, the United States remains the primary consumer of the individual for most resources. Overall, Greendex of National Geographic found that American consumers ranked last out of 17 countries surveyed for sustainable behavior. Many scientists believe that the Earth has a maximum capacity of 9 billion to 10 billion people. One of these scientists, Harvard University's prominent social biologist, Edward O. Wilson, bases his estimates on the calculations of Earth's available resources. The formation of an Indian National Planning Commission for Population Control is essential to motivate all people to reduce population size. More statistics are needed in India on environmental measures, and the deterioration of the population and the environment reduces the economic situation, which in turn contributes to poverty. Other problems associated with overpopulation include increased demand for resources such as fresh water, food, hunger, malnutrition, and consumption of natural products. Resources faster than regeneration rate, deteriorating living conditions. The traditional forecasts of the United Nations indicate that the world population, currently 7.7 billion people, will rise to 11.2 billion by the year 2100, then stabilize before slowing slowly, fertility rates decline dramatically throughout the world. The world population may reach a peak below nine Billion by 2050 then decrease. The main reason behind this rapid increase in growth was the low death rate (faster than the birth rate), especially the increase in the average human lifespan. By 2000, the population had reached 6 billion heads. However, population growth began to slow after 1965 due to lower birth rates. Population decline is a decrease in society due to events such as long-term demographic trends, such as the substitution of fertility, aging, migration, for example, as a result of economic stagnation, urban decline, rural travel, diminishing food resources. Previous focus on limiting rapid population growth exclusively through family planning was not enough. Population policy should be expanded to include health care, education, and poverty reduction. Any mechanism for controlling the population reduces the value of human life and is, therefore, morally unacceptable. According to this argument, defenders of population control use humans as an additional tool to deal with problems such as resource restriction and land use. Many countries made the population control a national policy. In varying degrees, population control methods include family planning, birth control, contraception, and abortion. In October 2015, the Chinese news agency Xinhua announced the government's plans to abolish the one-child policy, allowing all families to have two children. Children, citing a statement issued by the Communist Party to improve the balanced development of the population.
