What is sensory exploitation? What is an example of sensory exploitation? What evidence supports that this signal evolved via sensory exploitation and not in some other way?

Outline the logic behind Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection. Describe the evolution of an example trait (behavioral or otherwise) under natural selection.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Sensory exploitation is a sensory biases to gain better reproductive success. In females of many species "receiver biases" results in alredy existing preferences and males that evolve some those kind of traits that exploits these preexisting preferences are mostly favored by natural selection. One mate exploited by one sex in order to obtain more mating opportunity.

Example: In guppies ,a freshwater fish -- In this mating system the female fish prefer to mate with male having more orange color body. Although this orange color evolve in outside in mating context for both sexes for foraging (food) but here the male sex exploit this color as a orange spot on his body to attract the female.

Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection : the logic behind it is that how mate choice has evolve over time. Because mate choice is one of the two component of the sexual selection. In mating one of the sex is choosy and another is competative to that point, so if the female is choosy by preference quality & it discriminates the competative males. Better the male is competative more is the survival rate by the natural selection .
