Identify key interventions in your practice. What evidence supports the use of the intervention?
What patient safety measures are considered?
Describe the consistency of this practice across settings (e.g., different facilities, different settings, different nurses).
Nursing is a profession which demands a good ethical values along with the knowledge of medication. Nurses need to explore current practice and develop and test interventions to provide the evidence required for safe practice. Evidence based practice (EBP) is 'the integration of research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values' which when applied by practitioners will ultimately lead to improved patient outcome. In the original model there are three fundamental components of evidence based practice.
Patient safety measures are taken through many of the evidence based practice, collection of information, experiences and health care solutions. The AHRQ model includes the steps taken for the healthcare of patients
1) knowledge creation and distillation, by implementing things and research and explaining it to the end users.
2) Difussion and dessimination, it includes partnering with the professionals opinion leaders and health care organisations to dessimenate the knowledge that can form the basis of action.
Nurses are given full training about how to takecare of the patients, about the medication as well as data collection. These practices can make nurse more active in their profession.
