Glucose-1-phosphate is converted to glucose 6-phosphate (G6P) by phosphoglucomutase.This G6P produced go to Glycolysis pathway and used as fuel to produce Pyruvate and in this process produces ATP molecules.
Following is the overall Glycolysis reaction..
As can be seen in Glycolysis process 2mol of ATP gets consumed in PHASE1 and 4 mols are formed in PHASE2 to i.e net 2mol of ATP are formed, but this is when process starts with glucose molecule.
Here we starts wit G6P itself i.e we will not need to consume 1ATP mol which means we will get 3mol of net ATP for every 1 mol of G6P.
