Explain what is happening to your body with coronavirus. Explain what happens from the time you breathe in an air droplet to when it causes organ failure.
Coronavirus is deadly virus affecting the human race and results
in coronavirus disease.
Coronavirus enters the human body through inhalation of air
droplets infected by the virus or ingestion of material infected by
the virus. As the virus gains entry into the host body it attacks
the body cells and replicates itself. The coronavirus attacks and
infects the angiotensinogen converting enzyme 2. The cells infected
with coronavirus elicited an immune response which results in
cytokine and interleukin release and expression of antiviral
factors. The lungs gets infiltrated with inflammatory cells
resulting in symptoms of cough, sore throat, sputum production,
anosmia and respiratory distress. Increased cytokine levels results
in fever and chills. Inflammatory cell infiltration of arteries
results in increased vascular permeability. The coronavirus also
attacks lymphocytes resulting in lymphopenia. This results in
fatigue, headache and muscle pain. Continuous inflammatory response
and release of cytokines produces cytokine storm which
results in acute lung injury, multi organ failure, respiratory
failure and death.
