What happens to your body when you eat something? 1. Explain the science in your own words as if you are describing it to someone with no scientific knowledge (make sure you use appropriate words). 2. Explain all the steps from chewing all the day to the end
Foid furst enters tge mouth where , the chewing take place . It breaks food into smaller particles. Then the food moves to oesophagus, which is a tube which allows passage of food from mouth to stomach. Through oesophagus food reaches the stomach. Food remains in stomach for 2-4 hours. It get nixed 8with acids and digestion of protein take place in stomach. Them foid mives to small intestine, here the major part of digestion occurs. The secreatiins from liver , pancras and intestinal glands gelp in the digestion of food in small intestine. Here all kinds of enzymes for digestion present and digestion occurs. The waste materials or undigested food moves to the large intestine. Which have less or no digestive function. Unwanted materials is stired in rectum of large intestine which is then removed through anal opening by defecation.
Absorption of nutrientts occur mainly in small intestine . Here , proteins , fats , carbohydrates etc are absorbes to blood stream. In large intestine also the is some absorption of water takes place. Then the absorbed nutrients are delivered to tissues through blood stream where they are utilised or stored according to the cell needs.
