What happens to your body when a virus attacks the lungs and heart? 1. Explain the science in your own words as if you are describing it to someone with no scientific knowledge (make sure you use appropriate words). 1. Don’t focus on coronavirus because it might be difficult.
Usually a virus can spread from an infected person coughs or sneezes, spraying droplets that can transmit the virus to anyone in close contact and this can cause flu-like symptoms: Patients might start out with a fever and cough that progresses to pneumonia or worse. These viruses usually attack the lungs in three phases ie, by viral multiplication, immune hyper-reactivity, and lung destruction. Immune hyperreactivity means , in the presence of a viral invader, our bodies step up to fight the disease by flooding the lungs with immune cells to clear away the damage and repair the lung tissue. But in certain times, immune system goes haywire and those cells kill anything in their way including healthy tissue and so more damage occurs instead of less from the immune response.
Usually viral infection is the common cause of myocarditis ie, inflammation of heart muscle. When virus enters the body, our body itself will produce cells to fight it. These cells release chemicals and if the disease-fighting cells enter your heart, some chemicals they release can inflame heart muscle.
Hope this helps you. Thank you ?
